The
RETURNED & SERVICES LEAGUE of
AUSTRALIA Coming EventsThis page is for the benefit of members to keep informed of reunions and ceremonies and other events conducted by organizations other than the Sub-Branch in whom they may have an interest. Contributions are welcome from those organizations and members: they should be directed to Neil Horn for promulgation. National Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the commencement of the Korean WarA
commemorative service marking the 60th anniversary of the start of
the Korean War will be held at the National Korean War Memorial in ANZAC Parade
Canberra on Saturday, 23rd October 2010 at 11:00 am. All Korean War
Veterans, widows and family members are welcome to attend the Commemorative
Service. If
the Committee has recorded names in advance then the Veterans, widows and a
representative of the MIA families will receive an invitation from DVA to the
Commemorative Service. Please
give your name to the Office (6285 1931) if you are a veteran or widow and the
Committee will be informed. Speak to others and have them report their names as
well. Australia
had troops in Korea until 1957, so the youngest veteran would probably be at
least 73, with most in their 80s Members
of the Sub-branch are asked to make themselves available to assist with guiding
and helping to seat frail persons attending the ceremony. DVA
will be providing some subsidy for the ceremony and for a dinner in the evening. Details
of the dinner will be provided soon, but if you think you would attend advise
the office when recording your name.
